I enjoyed this more than the first volume. Like the first it is beautifully presented and full of fabulous photographs. It presents a broad and generally interesting history of Central Asia from different perspectives. It describes parts of world history which are interesting and probably unknown to most readers.A couple of criticisms. Occasionally the author falls into the trap of writing what are really just long lists of historical facts and names - in this sort of general history simply list [...]
Very interesting and thorough, lavishly illustrated. A huge drawback, though, for this whole series is the coffee-table size, which does not make it a book easy to sit down with in an armchair for the evening.
